Lab Leadership Bios

Ana Hooker, MBA, MT (ASCP)
SVP, Chief Laboratory Officer

Ana Hooker has over 20 years of laboratory experience. Prior to her position at Exact Sciences, she was at ARUP Laboratories for 15 years, the latter two as the division manager for anatomic pathology, oncology and genetics.

Prior to this, she was the division manager for genetics for three years and during her tenure she held positions of increased responsibility including group manager for oncology and genetics and the Technical Supervisor of the University of Utah Hospital Clinical Laboratories at ARUP.

She received her BS from Kansas State University, her MT from Hays Pathology Laboratories and her MBA from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has served in several positions in the Utah Chapter of CLMA since 2004.

Jennifer Laffin, PhD, FACMG
Laboratory Medical Director

Dr. Laffin has been with Exact Sciences since 2014, as Clinical Laboratory Medical Director . She has over 16 years of clinical laboratory leadership in genetics, genomics and molecular diagnostics. Dr. Laffin received her Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Iowa and completed clinical fellowships in Clinical Molecular Genetics at the University of Iowa and Clinical Cytogenetics at the University of Wisconsin Madison. She was a member of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Pediatrics - Genetics and Metabolism faculty and served as Director of UW Cytogenetic Services and Molecular Genetics at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene from 2008 until 2019.

Dr. Laffin is board certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics. 

Lisa Olson-Coombe, MBA, HTL (ASCP)
Vice President, Laboratory Operations

Lisa Olson-Coombe is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of the clinical laboratories in Madison and Baltimore. She joined Exact Sciences after spending 12 years at Aurora Diagnostics, a division of Sonic Healthcare USA, where she held various leadership roles including nearly five years as a Regional Vice President of Operations. Prior to this work, she led many laboratory, business development and strategic growth initiatives at Twin Cities Dermatopathology. With over 30 years of experience in healthcare, Lisa has an extensive record of blending clinical experience with business understanding to drive success.

Ms. Olson Coombe attended the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where she received a BS in Genetics and Cell Biology. She received her BSB in Management Information Systems at the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Business, and her MBA at the Carlson School’s Medical Industry Leadership Institute (MILI).

Lisa currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross of Wisconsin – Southwest Chapter. She is also a member of ASCP and the National Society for Histotechnology.
